COMMON QUESTIONS
IS TELEHEALTH A GOOD OPTION FOR ME?
Telehealth is an exciting way to deliver mental health care for its convenience. However, there are limitations and to make sure you get the best possible care, there are situations in which in person care would be the better option. Examples of these situations include severe mental health symptoms, safety concerns (such as feeling suicidal), and the use of certain medications which require significant monitoring
ARE THERE ANY REQUIREMENTS FOR TELEHEALTH?
You must have access to an adequate internet connection, a webcam, and a microphone in order to complete telehealth visits. Â You also must be in a private, quiet space for your sessions. Â
In order to be seen at Northern Oak Wellness you must live in Minnesota and be physically present in MN during your appointment. Northern Oak Wellness works with adults ages 18-65.
DO YOU OFFER EMERGENCY OR AFTER HOURS CARE?
Northern Oak Wellness does not offer emergency, on call, or after hours care. If an urgent situation is encountered (including, but not limited to, a threat of physical harm to yourself or others or a severe drug reaction), you should call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
WHAT KIND OF MEDICATIONS DO YOU USE?
At Northern Oak Wellness we prescribe a variety of medications to support your mental health. This could include medications such as SSRIs (sertraline, escitalopram, fluoxetine), SNRIs (venlafaxine, duloxetine), or other medications such as bupropion or mirtazapine. This is not an exhaustive list. Due to telehealth restrictions, we are unable to prescribe any controlled medications. This includes medications such as benzodiazepines (e.g. alprazolam, clonazepam, lorazepam), certain sleeping medications (e.g. Ambien, Lunesta), or stimulant medications (e.g. Adderall, Vyvanse, Ritalin).
DO YOU FILL OUT FORMS OR COMPLETE LETTERS FOR EMOTIONAL SUPPORT ANIMALS?
Northern Oak Wellness does not fill out forms (with limited exceptions) and does not complete ESA (emotional support animal) letters
